ABOUT
Crixia Institute of Mystic Arts was founded by four teenagers; Wang Huan, Seo Jihye, Horikawa Takehiko, and Somchai Horvejkul. The idea of the institution came alive after Wang Huan miraculously survived the 2nd Wizarding War that was held in Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
Wang, aged 18, returned to China and her story of Dark Arts instantly spread all over the East. With the community fearing for their own safety, Huan took advantage of the situation and asked her most trusted friend Horikawa to gather up the strongest witch and wizard he knew from Korea and Thailand to further unify the East.
During the first few months of creating the school, the Founders discovered that they had the ability to conjure the four elements. Seo discovered her ability first, which helped with slowly creating the island where CIMA stood. Soon after, Horikawa gained Air bending, Huan gained Water bending and lastly, Som with Fire bending. They decided to lure more students in with a class that Huan never experienced in her years in Hogwarts which was Elemental Bending. The idea of separating the students into certain houses came to place afterwards, the sole purpose of this was to make it easier for them to hold school competitions.
It was a year in the making and CIMA officially opened their doors in 1999. Even after multiple criticism and backlash it continued to have a successful first year, the institution went on to provide students all over the East with quality education and produce the finest witches and wizards. However during CIMA’s 15th year, the Great Four had a falling out with each other about how to govern the school.
The duel between Professor Wang Huan and Professor Seo Jihye was the 2nd controversy the school had experienced. They were both pure-bloods with powerful magic coursing through their veins, but with the anger fueling Jihye’s magic, Huan was defeated. What was said to be a minor injury became Huan’s beginning to years of long sleep. Not long after, Jihye’s resignation was announced.
With Jihye’s departure and Huan’s condition, the school continued to accommodate students coming from different backgrounds in the East with only Horikawa and Som’s supervision. Although many had great doubts on how the school was going to be run with only Horikawa and 28 year old Som, who was still receiving criticism for being the youngest founder.
Although a year later, Som announced his resignation out of the blue, leaving Horikawa the sole founder left to govern the school in 2015. This doesn’t seem to faze him, as the school’s success only grew bigger and produced more intelligent and scholarly wizards and witches in the same year. However after the year ended, Horikawa decided that CIMA would undergo renovations and strip the entire Institution clean to give it a new start. It left many great students homeless that had no choice but to settle over to Mahoutokoro, Hogwarts or even homeschooling.
In current times, Professor Horikawa announced that CIMA would once again open their doors exclusively to students with magical experience. As to why Professor Horikawa does this, is still unknown to the eastern magical world.

PILLARS
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀PILLAR OF HUAN
• Students under the Huan Pillar are mostly those who possess ambition, resourcefulness and extreme self confidence.
• It is also said that students are very idealistic, could act rather rashly and at their worst, be emotionally volatile. They are also considered to be sly.
• The Huan Students also possess the ability to bend water, their core element. Professor Huan first gained the mastery of it, giving the students under her to own the magic behind it as a gift. It is mandatory that the students under this pillar learn the magic of water bending.

• Students under Horikawa are commonly known to possess cleverness, creativity, and originality. Pillar of Horikawa is known to produce the most intelligent students.
• They’re also called to be individualistic and wise in everything they do. Although, students under Horikawa are also said to be uptight and strict when it comes to complying with rules and regulations around campus.
• The Horikawa Students also possess the ability to bend air, their core element. Professor Horikawa first gained the mastery of it, giving the students under him to own the magic behind it as a gift. It is mandatory that the students under this pillar learn the magic of air bending.
⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀ PILLAR OF SEO
• Students under this pillar are known for their courage, daring attitude and recklessness. They’re considered to be cocky and loud at times, and are very adaptable to change.
• They are also very competitive and sporty, most of the students under this house are very active in participating in the sports committee.
• The Seo Students also possess the ability to bend earth, their core element. Professor Seo first gained the mastery of it, giving the students under her to own the magic behind it as a gift. It is mandatory that the students under this pillar learn the magic of earth bending.

• Students under Som are known for their kindness, loyalty and patience. They’re also known to be very well-rounded, having the open mindedness to try anything that may come to them. Som produces the most reliable students.
• Although Som students have many great qualities, they are often perceived to be too selfless to the point where they can get pushed around without even realizing it.
• The Som Students also possess the ability to bend fire, their core element. Professor Som first gained the mastery of it, giving the students under him to own the magic behind it as a gift. It is mandatory that the students under this pillar learn the magic of fire bending.

FAQs
1. What kind of AU RP will CIMA be?
CIMA is a semi-lit au rp. The uniqueness of CIMA is that plotting is not mandatory although encouraged. All literacy types are welcome as long as you stay in-character.
2. Is it alright if i haven’t read or watched the Harry Potter series or the Avatar: The Last Airbender series?
Yes! We do not require you to watch any of the two series, the admins have provided enough information and history for you to get started with your character. CIMA is heavily influenced by the two series but is not solely based on them. The roleplay is technically within the Harry Potter universe, as Hogwarts and Mahoutokoro still exist. If you choose to do so, you may use the Harry Potter wiki as a reference for spells and concepts, or you may also just use general terms, like “freezing spell” or “transfiguration spell” instead.
In this universe, elemental bending is wandless magic, and it is done with the use of martial arts formations, as seen on Avatar: The Last Airbender. Here is a link to a video explaining the martial arts styles of the different types of bending. x You may use it to help visualise as you roleplay bending with other students.
3. Will I be able to still use Harry Potter terms in this AU RP?
Yes, you may but specific terms like spell incantations and potions’ names may be something not everyone is familiar with. Take this into consideration when roleplaying. We have tried to give the students as much information as possible so that they may use it in roleplaying. CIMA is an independent school on its own.
4. Are Carrds or Listography for my OC necessary?
Not necessarily. If you wish to put information about your original character in a thread or in other methods (such as a Padlet), that will be alright. We highly encourage you to develop your character over time!
5. Why can’t I choose my own pillar?
Your pillar is somewhat similar to the “house” concept in Harry Potter. Inspired by the sorting hat from the Harry Potter universe, the admins decided it would be a fun twist to group the students with pillar items instead of them grouping themselves. not only will this avoid pillar overcrowding, but also encourages students to interact with each other.
Please take note that the pillars can house varied students with different personalities. The things mentioned about the pillars are what is most common between students in said pillars. This is because this is what they share or what links them to the four founders' personalities. A student can have all the qualities in their pillar, or only a select few. It is the mun's choice.

HANDBOOK
• We do not classify students by school years or age, instead we separate by amount of experience. regardless of your age, if you have been homeschooled before entering Crixia, you will be in classes with the same level of magic experience as you.
• For the specialised element classes, students will only be allowed to control their pillar's core element (for example, students under Hirokawa's Pillar will only be able to control the element, or bend, Air). Having two or more elements is strictly prohibited.
• No public displays of affection, we are an academic institution, not a mixer for hookups.
• No wandering the halls at night, it’s not only against the rules but you could break something. A table, decorations, a bone...
• Sleepovers in other pillars’ dorms are strictly prohibited. Visiting other common rooms is allowed during the day. Students from other pillars cannot enter without the password from a student of that pillar.
• No turning of students into animals, please. We have had incidents in the past and we do not want it happening after opening our doors again.
• Please refrain from testing your fire bending skills on cloaks, papers, potions, and most importantly, hair.
• Stealing of class supplies (potion ingredients, plant seeds, in-class books, equipment, etc.) is not allowed, if you are seen with these items outside class, sanctions will be imposed.
• Drinking is strictly banned on the weekdays, and is only allowed during the weekends during parties. If you are spotted partying during the weekdays you will get a strike. Only students aged 20 and above are allowed to drink.
• Reports from students are welcome, please send in your proof (screenshots or anything) to any faculty member (base account) and please try to include the time as well. We will do our best to resolve the matter as quickly as possible.
ㅤㅤ ㅤSTRUCTURE OF THE SCHOOL
• There is no headmaster. There were (in the past) just the four Founders and the staff leading the school. The pillars only have a few student leaders forming a student council. This mix of the four pillars and staff symbolises balance and making sure everyone's voices are heard.
• The council is made up of 1-3 students from each pillar. Anyone of any age or year can volunteer as a student council member. For the special reopening of the school, Horikawa has handpicked the student council himself.
ㅤㅤㅤㅤSCHOOL SURVEILLANCE
The school’s surveillance method is one of magic. The founders and staff have a spell casted upon them that connects their bodies to the rest of the school, so if an accident happens anywhere, they will feel physical pain on a certain part of their body. This spell was developed by Founder Seo, who built most of the island and the buildings of the school, thus having a much deeper connection with it.
ㅤㅤㅤMODES OF TRANSPORTATION
• Brooms are not commonly used in CIMA and their use doesn’t seem to be spreading across the rest of Asia either. Instead, flying carpets are commonplace and are used as the usual mode of transportation. It is created with enchanted fabrics and threads and can be customized depending on the user. The different threads and materials will determine the weight, size, speed, and agility of said carpet.
• The students will have a special carpet construction class in their first year at the school (no matter what year they are in, transferees included) so they can pick and choose which threads will be woven into their carpet.
• Apparating, meaning magically disappearing and reappearing in a different location, is not possible for students inside Crixia. Students need permission from the faculty to do so. Once given permission, they will be allowed a certain number of apparitions within a certain amount of time, usually a few minutes or less. Staff also have a limited number of apparitions per day. Only Founder Horikawa can apparate an unlimited amount of times within the school and island.
ㅤㅤㅤUNIFORM AND PILLAR PINS
• There is no strict uniform. This was an idea formed by Seo. The students may wear articles (at least one) of clothing that shows off their pillar colors, but the main thing is that the students will have a pin, with their logos and colors on it. This allows them to be fashionable but faculty and other students will know which pillar they're from.
• The student council members will still have their pin but it's enchanted and will sparkle brightly compared to the normal pins. It also has a small ribbon underneath with their pillar colors.
• Pins must be worn at all times.

Most of the current faculty at CIMA were former students of the school (general subjects) or they were trained by the founders themselves (elemental bending subjects), in order to gain knowledge of the element they will be teaching.

Students have the choice to bring one (1) of these types of pets. They can have multiple pets but they all must be of the same type (ex. a student can have two red pandas but not a red panda and a tiger). The smaller animals can stay in the students’ dorms or in the pet enclosure a few minutes walk away from the main school complex.

• Tyro is the eastern wizarding community's word for non-magical people, or muggle as it is known in the west.
• Tyro means inexperienced or beginner (in English), and it’s the term Som used on himself because his confidence in his own magic was very low at the founding of the school but it (the use of the term) spread like wildfire.
• Som popularised the term, and it sounds like pyro (fire).
Som one day said, “I’m such a tyro” and Huan replied with “No, you’re not. The people with no magic are. You’re already very good.”
• In the Eastern wizarding community there was no word for non-magical people. They didn't bother, unlike the West, because they didn't see them as something worth naming (but not in the negative sense). They've coexisted with them for so long and never really minded.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀USE OF TECHNOLOGY
• In Harry Potter, muggle technology was near useless because magic wouldn't really work with it. This was only in the Western magical areas.
• Horikawa and Huan would definitely be pioneers in the east, working hard and finding ways to have magic blend well with tyro technology, meaning there are phones, televisions and computers working properly for wizards.
• Horikawa would be the one to properly merge tyro technology and magic, allowing both to work at the same time without disrupting the other. This is why the school has working smartphones and a computer lab with internet. He’s working on building a network of websites that can have magical informational resources for the students.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀BENDING
There are different objects which can be manipulated using the different styles of bending.
Fire - Fire (basic), lava (advanced), lightning (advanced)
Air - Air (basic and advanced), sound (advanced)
Earth - Rocks and soil (basic), plants, flowers and vines (basic), metal (advanced), sand (advanced)
Water - Water, ice, and steam (basic), vines (advanced), blood, acid, and poison (banned)
•⠀Elemental bending magic is wandless and uses different body formations to manipulate said elements. (see FAQ page for more information about this.)
⠀⠀⠀⠀BANNED FROM THE SCHOOL
The following things are banned from Crixia Institute of Mystic Arts:
TikTok - Horikawa has seen the application and believes it to be very distracting for the students. Also, accidents can happen if the students are influenced by very dangerous TikToks.
Bloodbending - Founder Huan banned this method of waterbending as she found it very dangerous, even if one is an advanced bender. She is against taking the will of another’s body. Anyone seen bloodbending will automatically be expelled.
Chi Blocking - This is using and pressing pressure points on the body to stop the flow of magical bending. They do not permit anything that can internally hinder the magic of the element they are learning. All books and resources on chi blocking are in the Restricted Section of the library, and only Horikawa himself has the key to this particular section.
Acidbending and Poisonbending - Similar to bloodbending, Founder Huan chose to ban this style of waterbending for the safety of the students.
Asphyxiation - This is the act of using airbending to pull the air out of someone’s lungs and using it to cut off the person’s oxygen supply. This is extremely dangerous and fatal to the victim and is not allowed for any form of testing or practice in the school.

•ㅤㅤStudents have access to the library only during school hours, extensions of stay will have to be requested beforehand. The faculty/forbidden section of the library cannot be accessed by the students.

•ㅤㅤThe Grand Hall will only be used during study halls, events and dinner dining. Students will be seated by pillars and strictly have to be punctual.
Hospital Wing
•ㅤㅤStudents will need a valid reason as to why they’ll be visiting the hospital wing, staying in to only loiter is prohibited.
Digital Hub Rooms (Only to be used with permission from Professors)
•ㅤㅤThe Digital Hub Rooms will be provided with personal computer units, air conditioning, vending machines as well as comfortable lounging. Students will need a proper request form before using the rooms.

•ㅤㅤStudents can visit the bookstore for their supplies needs, such as the required pillar pins, books and wand replacements (do not abuse this power to have wand replacements on site).
Herbology Store
•ㅤㅤHerbs for potions as well as food for mystical beasts can be found here, students will need to ask their herbology/care for mystical beasts professor for an order form.
